We have entered 2011 with an attitude of radical submission to what God has called us to do and we are serious about the challenge of reaching unreached people groups in Asia by evangelizing, mentoring and raising up disciples. Our College is a making a significant difference in many Asian countries as we train up and send evangelists, pastors and teachers, worship leaders and children’s workers back to their tribes and nations sharing the wonderful good news of the Gospel. It is so encouraging to see significant results as the Asian church grows for the Glory of God and for us to be part of the work the Lord has given us to enjoy!
Christmas Day found us in Bang Bo Thailand where we traveled with our students and we spent the day working with a number of different children’s groups that have been established by our fourth year student Pod Mark. It was a delightful time of presenting the gospel through skits, drama, song and games. The children were enthusiastically responsive and lives were touched and changed. Our Christmas dinner was a small portion of fried rice and bottled water.
The whole of the Christmas season was packed with a vast variety of activities that shared the gospel in ‘word and deed’ in-between the Fall and Winter/Spring Semesters. It was a busy and fruitful time.
On December the 27th Donna & I set aside time and invited all staff and students to our home where we provided a Christmas celebration dinner and to reward them for all their hard work and faithfulness. We had 53 people spilling out into the street from our small front yard and driveway. We roasted a pig as it was the most economical way to feed that many people. It was an effort well appreciated and a fun time.
Our Thai neighbours love the smell of Donna baking cookies for the students and asked Donna to show them how. They had never mixed up a batter before, it was all so fascinating to them.
I spent 2 hours with the Dental Surgeon last Monday as the dentist prepared and drilled to place implants in my jaw. I have to go back on January 18 to have the stitches removed and then continue the procedure to fasten the crowns to them. An extremely expensive procedure even here in Thailand but much less than doing it in Canada. Anyway, under the circumstances I didn’t have much choice. The previous crown & bridge was over 40 years old and simply fell apart.
